Word once had it cameras captured souls, and in the case of emerson Matabele’s photographs this may indeed be true. His images are sublime impressions that skillfully use color and light to display the spiritual radiance of his subjects. emerson has mindfully attached moving passages from poets and sages to his compelling images and we, the observers, are forced to linger for moments on end savoring the clarity, power and honesty of each one.
If photography can be translated to mean “writing with light”, then emerson has created a breathtakingly poignant volume whose message plainly encourages us to travel to the pure and peaceful place within ourselves and humbly take our place among our kin.
